Coming Soon: Discipleship Pathway Launch!

Discipleship Pathway Introduction Graphic (File Compressed)

Our Discipleship Pathway is a tool to engage the entire church body as we live out our call to be disciples of Jesus that lead others to become disciples of Jesus. It is a framework, highlighting twelve key areas – steps along the pathway – of spiritual growth. These are the twelve key areas every disciple needs to give attention to, so we can continue to learn, grow and serve.

I’ve got a big announcement for you! Beginning in March 2022, we will be launching a brand new initiative called Discipleship Pathway.

You often hear me talk about how we are on a path of pursuing discipleship - learning, growing and serving together. But what really is a disciple?

A disciple is someone who follows. Someone who learns.

Once we put our faith in Jesus Christ for salvation, we make this decision: do we want to actually follow him?

Our Discipleship Pathway is a tool to engage the entire church body as we live out our call to be disciples of Jesus that lead others to become disciples of Jesus. It is a framework, highlighting twelve key areas – steps along the pathway – of spiritual growth. These are the twelve key areas of the Christian life that every disciple needs to engage.

This is not a program.

This is not an event.

The Discipleship Pathway consists of a collection of practical resources and materials, in print and online, that will guide you on your journey as a follower of Jesus Christ. It will guide you in your spiritual growth, helping you to deepen your faith as you live out the way of Jesus every day.

We can use this on an ongoing basis, to make sure we are walking on the path that the Lord has set before us.

You’ll notice the twelve key areas are like stepping stones on the path. The path is not linear. There are a lot of intersecting paths. While each stepping stone is necessary for every disciple, the journey along the way will look different for each person. But everyone’s path starts at the same place: trusting in Jesus for salvation!

And I hope the Discipleship Pathway becomes a part of the culture here at Trinity, part of our DNA, as it helps us build upon our core values: Learn, Grow and Serve. It will bring us together as a church family as we grow spiritually.

Because remember, Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24)

And then in Matthew 28, in the Great Commission, we are told to be a disciple and make disciples at the same time — “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

What does that mean, exactly?

Let’s find out together.

Stay tuned for more!
